Project Description

The Core Facility BioSupraMol links research activities in the field of Supramolecular Chemistry and Structural Biology at the Freie Universität Berlin. The original four units have now been extended to include further analytical and preparative methods, such as advanced light microscopy techniques, X-ray crystallography and microfluidics. In the second funding phase, this expansion shall be further consolidated by a new data management platform and made internationally even more visible by continuing the Summer School program. The sustainable management and analysis of research data, whose volume is already in the terabyte range per week will significantly increase in particular with the implementation of new high resolution imaging techniques, e.g. life-cell imaging (2-Photonen). In a first project phase we will focus our efforts on data management and analysis using image data of a new cryo-TEM as pilot scheme. In the second phase, we will transfer and extend the concept towards other facilities within BioSupraMol. We expect this to be a stepwise process. Together with the facility users and operators more relevant aspects should be identified and corresponding services developed.
