We propose to acquire three low-budget vehicles for the local management teams of the three exploratories to support the plot maintenance and transport of research personnel and their work materials. The previously granted Toyota Hilux pickups have been extensively used by the local management team to support the inventorying of the 1000 study plots and the establishment of the 100 experimental plots within each exploratory. However, due to larger distances and more frequent parallel actions than anticipated this was not sufficient to conduct all work tasks that needed to be accomplished simultaneously. Therefore, private cars of the manager, forester and technical staff were used frequently. One additional vehicle per exploratory is mandatory for ensuring plot maintenance and transportation tasks and will also substantially reduce the costs for privately used cars.
