Project Details
Role of collagen-binding integrin receptors for cellular communication and homeostasis in the skin (B03)
Subject Area
Dermatology
Term
from 2009 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 73111208
This project aims at establishing whether and by which mechanisms integrin-mediated contact of cells with collagen is important for maintaining skin homeostasis. Our previous work defined non-overlapping functions of the collagen-binding integrin receptors in proliferation, angiogenesis and myofibroblast function in skin repair and fibrosis. Future work will aim to interfere with critical steps in force transduction, matrix remodeling and growth factor activity to attenuate fibrotic processes.
