Term
from 2009 to 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 74729252
Microplasma jets driven in ambient air have recently come into the focus of scientific interest. In this context, their application particularly in surface treatment and modification is a major issue. Experiments have successfully shown that etching of substrates and deposition of materials is efficiently possible. The proposed project is intended to work in this field by means of self-consistent numerical simulations. In close connection to experiments performed within the Research Unit, a simulation model will be developed which allows to study microdischarge phenomena of plasma jets of various geometries, their effluents in ambient air and their interactions with surfaces.
