A central aspect of the research planned within the subproject A2 is to provide support for creating and maintaining high-quality knowledge models for companion-system. To achieve this, consistency and quality criteria for such models as well as methods for verifying them automatically are to be developed and integrated into a modelling tool. Another focus is the effective and efficient use of symbolic background knowledge for recognizing the state of the user and the environment. Stream reasoning algorithms will be used and extended for this purpose. Concerning the treatment of uncertainty in particular, we will develop methods to transfer probabilistic models in a well-defined and adequate manner into simplified logical models.
