Final Report Abstract
We have used a Bayesian reconstruction method to measure the density field traced by galaxies in the GAMA survey. Large-scale structures in the galaxy distribution have been identified and classified into four environments (voids, sheets, filaments and clusters) based on the eigenvalues of the Hessian matrix of the gravitational potential. We have studied how a number of galaxy properties vary as a function of the large-scale environment. Our ongoing study provides us with the unique opportunity to connect the small-scale physics of galaxies with the assembly of the large-scale structure, thus bridging galaxy formation and cosmology.
