The overall goal of the current project is the development of models and methods to describe noise generation sources of premixed and partially premixed combustion systems in the context of low-Ma-approximation using the large eddy simulation (LES). In the first period, as described in the report, the principal evidence is provided that a correct description of sound generation and sound propagation with a coupling between a low-Mach-approximation and a CAA (Computational Aeroacoustics) methodology is possible. A number of fundamental insights like the strong influence of boundary conditions and numerical methods on the noise emissions are obtained. In the second period, the following objectives will be mainly in the focus of the pro-ject; (I) investigation of the influence of the fuel-air equivalence ratio, their gradients and the boundary conditions on the noise generation, (ii) investigation of the influence of the density gradient modeling on the gen-erated sound field, (iii) development of "sound sensitive" LES models, (IV) derivation of models from the DNS (Direct Numerical Simulation).
