The fulfillment of the needs of almost seven billion people with the current production technologies of today exceeds the capacity of available resources. Brazil and Germany need sustainable technologies to meet sustainability challenges of 21st century. For this reason, a framework for sustainable value creation and exemplary technology paths for remanufacturing oriented production equipment will be developed in a joint project between Brazil and Germany. In this project remanufacturing scenarios for sustainable value creation will be developed, areas of application for production equipment for various fields of development will be identified and adequate strategies for competition and collaboration in these remanufacturing scenarios will be provided. A technology roadmap for sustainable value creation with remanufacturing oriented production equipment in Brazil and Germany will be worked out. Based on these results a remanufacturing oriented model for production equipment will be deduced. Results of this project will be demonstrated through a virtual prototype. Part of the research will be an exemplary implementation e.g. remanufacturing of assembly equipment and grinding machines in Brazilian German collaboration.
