This project is dedicated to the novel communication principle of Interference Alignment. We assemble a conceptual model for wireless communication systems supporting Interference Alignment and its theoretical embedding into existing communication frameworks. The new model is called cyclic polynomial channel model. In our recent work, we developed a Cyclic Interference Alignment scheme and a Cyclic Interference Neutralization scheme for the proposed channel model. Therein, we were able to show the optimality of the new communication scheme under certain assumptions on the channelproperties. These results conform the Interference Alignment principle, but from a new perspective. In the present project proposal, we propose a major extension of the given model in order to investigate more general multi-user scenarios. Initially, we start with the most basic unicast, single-hop and unidirectional communication schemes. In the subsequent step, we will include multicast, multi-hop, feedback and multi-way communication schemes. On the basis of these models, we will derive optimal communication strategies. Our investigations will provide an elaborate theoretical framework for wireless communications that motivates practical schemes for Interference Alignment and identifies their respective limitations.
