Project Details
The role of gp130 signalling during liver regeneration, inflammation and tumour formation: therapeutic perspectives (C01)
Subject Area
Biochemistry
Term
from 2010 to 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 80750187
IL-6 trans-signalling via the soluble IL-6 receptor and gp130 essentially contributes to liver regeneration and hepatocarcinogenesis, while IL-6 classic-signalling controls infectious disease of the liver. Using a novel innovative mouse model we will selectively and cell-autonomously induce gp130 signalling in selected cell types of the liver and analyse its effect on inflammatory and cancerogenic processes of the liver. We will further assess the potential of IL-6 trans-signalling as therapeutic target in autoimmune liver disease by analysing murine models and human specimens.
