Project Details
MRI and MPI of liver disease– non-invasive control of liver and bile duct inflammation, tumour genesis, steatosis, fibrosis and pathogenic parasites (S01)
Subject Area
Medical Physics, Biomedical Technology
Term
from 2010 to 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 80750187
Small animal magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic particle imaging (MRI, MPI) allows visualisation of hepatobiliary pathologies and repeatable, longitudinal, in vivo investigation of the liver. Using MRI and Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) and applying dedicated MPI coils, we want to study in vivo liver pathologies such as steatohepatitis, fibrosis, cholangitis and tumours and nanoparticle labelled hepatotropic amoeba. In accordance with the specific issues of the sub-projects new liver MRI, MRS and MPI protocols, techniques and coils will be tested, improved and validated.
