Project Details
The control of vascular morphogenesis by neuronal guidance cues (A07)
Subject Area
Anatomy and Physiology
Term
from 2010 to 2021
Project identifier

Vessels and nerves possess similar specialized structures that sense the surrounding tissue for specific cues that direct their movements. Our aim is to understand the function of neuronal cues in the patterning and signalling of the vasculature in the central nervous system. In this project, we focus on the role of the neuronal guiding molecules fibronectin-leucine-rich transmembrane proteins (FLRTs) which we have recently discovered to play a role during developmental angiogenesis. We will investigate the importance of FLRTs/Unc5 and latrophilins in regulating communication at the neurovascular unit in mouse and zebrafish.
