Project Details
Protein Transport and Organisation with Nucleic Acid Based Membrane Devices (A08)
Subject Area
Biophysics
Term
from 2010 to 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 111166240
In this project, we will utilize nucleic acid-based molecular structures for the creation of artificial membrane channels and membrane-bound scaffold structures. DNA channels will be used to study the translocation of peptides and proteins across membranes, whereas dedicated “connector structures will facilitate diffusive molecular transport between membraneous compartments. We will further explore in situ production of RNA nanostructures, which can assemble on lipid bilayer membranes, where they serve as protein scaffolds and sensor structures.
