Datenintegration, Pathwayanalyse und Modellierung

Applicant Dr. Ralf Herwig
Subject Area Animal Breeding, Animal Nutrition, Animal Husbandry
Term from 2009 to 2013
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 168090178

In the first phase of the DRIP project we have developed a data integration system for porcine genome analysis (DRIPdb, http://dripdb.molgen.mpg.de). Fundamental resources for functional annotation have been added to the system, for example QTL databases, pathway databases and genome sequence resources. In the extension phase of the DRIP research group we target the following specific goals:- Continuation of data integration: New data types will be incorporated into the system by means of respective XML format transformations. Additional system interfaces will be developed in order to integrate the constantly growing porcine genome sequence information, new QTLs and eQTLs and new functional data.- Annotation of reaction networks using the ConsensusPathDB: In order to generate an in silico representation of the relevant biochemical reaction systems, the reactions directly or indirectly associated with the candidate genes (metabolic reactions, signal transduction pathways, gene regulation) will be identified and a respective network will be generated and analysed using a general data format (ConsensusPathDB) available at MPIMG. This system is currently available for human interactions and will be extended to porcine interaction data.- Modelling of effects of network perturbations: After the creation of the relevant reaction system, extensive computational modelling will be performed in order to predict dependencies between network components as an in silico counterpart to the functional RNAi experiments.
