Subproject C2 focuses on advanced methods for an automated adaption of ground models for analyzing and controlling the mechanized tunneling processes. These include the extension of concepts for pattern recognition to be used for the identification of the ground conditions ahead of the tunnel face, considering different types of uncertainties of the soil. Furthermore, methods for the robust planning of optimized measurement designs are developed to allow for a reliable identification procedure of the current ground conditions. The methods are evaluated in the context of analyses of reference tunneling projects.
