This application is aimed to support and continue a long-standing and acknowledged cooperation with the Solid State Theory group of the department of Physics at the University of Rome ’La Sapienza’. Within the past decade this cooperation resulted in numerous fruitful results and publications in the field of high-temperature superconductivity. The scientific aim of the present project is in the further understanding of quasiparticle excitations in the high-Tc cuprates, both with regard to the strong correlations present in these systems but also in the context of electron-phonon coupling mechanisms. More specifically the main emphasis of the project is on the following three topics: (a) Analysis of the single-particle spectra arising from the coupling between quasiparticles and dynamical charge density waves; (b) Investigation of the interplay between electronic correlations and transitive electronphonon couplings, and (c) the calculation of excitations in the pair-pair channel with regard to both the Auger cross section of cuprate superconductors and also the pairing fluctuations of inhomogeneous stripe states.
