Interplay between microstructure and electrochemical behavior of carbid ceramic based materials under ECM-conditions

Subject Area Glass, Ceramics and Derived Composites
Term from 2010 to 2017
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 188726952

The aim of the proposal is a holistic description of the ECM-process together with all partners of the proposal PAK 609 (2. funding period). In the 2. funding period of the proposal Mi509/16-1 and SCHN745/11-1 respectively, the following key aspects are defined:- Design of the interface with the various surface films, - the formation of reaction products, - influence and optimization of electrolytes, - characterization of materials and microstructure - interplay microstructure and ECM The relation between ECM-parameters and surface quality of cemented carbides and should be investigated in detail. Thereby the temperature plays a key role. To understand this key role, the temperature of the electrolyte as well as the sample will be measured in operando. Additionally, the pH-value will be detected. This is highly important because the material dissolution strictly depends on the pH-value.
