Project Details
Simulation of airframe noise generation and reduction with porous materials for high lift systems (A01)
Subject Area
Fluid Mechanics
Term
from 2011 to 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 133733460
This project will first address the existing gaps in the aeroacoustic modelling regarding the surface roughness effects of porous materials on the boundary layer turbulence. This shall be accomplished and validat-ed by means of model scale wind tunnel tests in the Acoustic Windtunnel Braunschweig (AWB). The successful concept of graded porosity will be for the first time implemented on the Coanda flap. Based on the complete and functional aerodynamics and sound simulation environment of an active high-lift system at high Reynolds number, an optimized silent design will be carried out. In cooperation with TP A5 and TP B5 the link between aero-/acoustic requirements and the material micro structures will be investigated. Validation of the numerical methods shall be performed on the large scale experiment in DNW-NWB (TP Z2).
