Ultrasound generating microstructures for batteryless remote controls

Subject Area Microsystems
Term from 2011 to 2015
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 193606884

Contemporary wireless remote controls mostly use batteries and some new products are equipped with energy harvesting systems. Both methods are dependent on electric energy and electronic components entailed with hazardous waste. Therefore mechanically actuated remote controls without any electronic components are of interest. Two demonstrators employing micro whistles as sound generators shall be developed showing that such remote controls can be constructed and really work: a light switch for apartments operating with coded ultrasound signals suitable for integration into existing bus systems and sound ranging of whistles sending coded ultrasonic signals.
