Project P7 will investigate how the assembly, composition, and micro-compartmental architecture of the cardiac ECM contribute to proper heart functionality, including the ECM components Lonely heart and Pericadin. To understand how these proteins cooperate in heart function (i) critical protein domains in Lonely heart and Pericardin required for interaction and function will be determined. (ii) Novel factors involved in Pericardin recruitment will be identified, and their function will be determined. (iii) Finally, the physiology of cardiac ECM assembly will analyzed by time-resolved imaging of relevant mutants.
