The Core Project 5 «Botany» will continue to provide important background information for the other core and contributing projects and support the maintenance of experiments. For this, we will continue the monitoring of biomass productivity and quality on all grassland EPs and the diversity of vascular plants in all forest and grassland EPs. We will further monitor plant diversity, abundance of individual species and productivity in the management experiments in grasslands and forests. On the newly selected agricultural field plots we will assess the composition and biomass production of the accompanying field vegetation, together with the soil seed bank. Finally, we will compile, analyse and provide long-term data on changes in the vegetation composition and trends of individual species in relation to changes in land use, climate, and forest structure.
