Project C3 models the chemistry of star-forming region to compare with and interpret observations obtained in other projects of the CRC. The original model, which already contained gas-phase and grain-surface processes and could take the thermal evolution into account, has been updated with a more sophisticated grain model, now representing the ice mantle with a multi-layer structure. We want to enhance the model further by linking to (magneto-)hydrodynamical models (from C5), thus adding the important dimension of dynamics to the heretofore static model, and want to improve the interactions with cosmic rays, which will affect the composition of the (so far chemically inert) ice mantle.
