Project Details
Interface formation in active and reactive filter structures and phase formation after melt filtration (A05)
Subject Area
Thermodynamics and Kinetics as well as Properties of Phases and Microstructure of Materials
Term
from 2011 to 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 169148856
For novel carbon binders as well as for alternative active and reactive filter components (metastable alumina phases, calcium aluminates, CNTs and oxy-graphene), detailed models describing microstructure changes as functions of time and temperature will be derived from the results of in situ (HTXRD, HTTEM, HTSAED) and ex situ (XRD, REM, EBSD, TEM, SAED) analyses. Obtained knowledge about the effect of the microstructure defects on the phase transitions and on the reactions with metallic melts will be used to adjust the thermal stability of desired phases and to improve the filtration efficiency of functionalized surface coatings, respectively.
