Project Details
Modelling and evaluation of the thermomechanical behaviour of filter materials and filter structures (B05)
Subject Area
Metallurgical, Thermal and Thermomechanical Treatment of Materials
Term
from 2011 to 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 169148856
Subproject B05 deals with the development of material models and simulation tools for the description of the meso- and macroscopic material behaviour of ceramic filter materials and structures as well as the prediction of the in-situ layer formation on reactive filters. The simulation tools are designed to enable detailed mesoscopic analyses of the stresses experienced by filter structures due to thermal shocks and mechanical loadings and further to capture reactions with metal melts in a time-resolved manner. Sufficient validation provided, such simulation tools form the basis for the structural assessment of the complex thermomechanical filter behaviour, also in loading regimes for which no experimental information is available.
