Building on its competences in the areas of HPC, Big Data and visualization, the main scientific goal of project S02 is the integration and extension of software codes developed in various projects of the CRC 920 in order to establish a high-performance virtual prototyping pipeline for metal melt filter design. Motivated by the new richness in shape design made possible by recent advances in 3D printing technology, the filter design will be systematically varied and comprehensively tested using HPC simulations, visualizations as well as automated evaluation procedures. The project S02 will further continue to contribute visualization services to all projects in CRC 920.
