Short process chain for the production of tailor-made semi-finished products (B06)

Subject Area Primary Shaping and Reshaping Technology, Additive Manufacturing
Term from 2011 to 2019
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 29898171

Project Description

In the third phase of SFB, project B6 will combine the entire process chain for the production of high and medium manganese steels, including strip casting, hot and cold rolling. The investigated steel alloys will include high aluminum/high manganese MBIP steels and multiphase medium manganese steels; this requires comprehensive adaptions regarding casting additives, refractory material, and casting, hot and cold rolling parameters. In addition, potential opportunities for influencing the strip properties (Rm, Rp0.2, Ag) by varying the casting and rolling parameters will be investigated. Thus, taking advantage of the outstanding strain hardening behavior of these manganese steels enables the production of tailor-made semi-finished products in a drastically shortened process chain.
