Mathematical modeling of frames (A01)
Subject Area
General and Comparative Linguistics, Experimental Linguistics, Typology, Non-European Languages
Term
from 2011 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 192776181
In the next period A01 extends and adapts the formal frame theory so that it accounts for empirical language comprehension data. The main topics are: (i) adapting our frame model to models that are based on neurophys-iological research on semantic processing in the brain, in particular the Retrieval-Integration model, (ii) extending the notion of context so as to encompass both discourse information and world knowledge, (iii) incorporating predictions and probabilities into the framework, (iv) modelling perspectives in frames and combinations of frames at the discourse level, and (v) accounting for negative information in frames.
