Project Details
Non-equilibrium dynamics, fluctuations and competing phases in an open driven atom-cavity system (C05)
Subject Area
Optics, Quantum Optics and Physics of Atoms, Molecules and Plasmas
Term
from 2011 to 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 170620586
Project C5 explores controlled driving, as a means to steer an atom-cavity system towards metastable dynamical states that provide interesting functional properties, not possible in the undriven case. Contributing to all seven SFB mission statements, project C5 comprises three subprojects, all of which will be conducted as joint efforts together with experimental (C1, C3, B7) and theoretical (C9) projects of the SFB: dynamical stabilization and suppression of non-equilibrium density wave orders, in analogy to light-induced superconductivity in B7, observation of limit cycle dynamics and search for time-crystal behaviour, and light induced excitations and control of quantum fluctuations.
