Energy-Aware Resource Management (B04)

The main goal for Phase III is to build a functional prototype of an operating system to support applications on the HAEC-Box simulator, but also being aware of the scale and specifics of the real HAEC-Box. The main challenge - besides providing abstractions and interfaces for the other projects - is the organization of resource management that must consider the global state of the system but run in a distributed fashion. Key idea to resolve the apparent contradiction of requirements is a combination of ahead-of-time and on-line scheduling. We are confident that a hybrid system (L4-based and Linux) and EUFs continue to be a sound basis for that approach.
