Golgi-associated protein scaffolds regulating receptor targeting and hormone secretion (A13)

Subject Area Cell Biology
Term from 2011 to 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 184695641

A13 examines the role of Golgi-associated scaffolds on hormone secretion by fat and pancreatic beta-cells. The small trans-Golgi residing GTPase ARFRP1 and its downstream scaffolding proteins affect (i) lipid droplet protein composition in intestinal cells, (ii) mediate endocytotic recycling of the insulin and transferrin receptors and (iii) are required for the secretion of adiponectin and insulin. The future aim is to clarify the function of the scaffolding protein GOPC, a recently identified ARFRP1 interacting protein that also interacts with the retromer subunit VPS35. A13 will test the hypothesis that ARFRP1 and GOPC together regulate retromer-mediated endosomal recycling processes.
