The aim of the research project is the investigation of multilayered top coats consisting of 7 wt.-% yttria stabilized zirconia (7YSZ) and neodymium zirconate (Nd2Zr2O7) or samarium zirconate (Sm2Zr2O7) deposited by electron beam-physical vapour deposition (EB-PVD) based on the promising results of multilayered top coat systems with at least one pyrochlore coating layer. Multilayered top coat systems based on rare-earth materials will be designed to increase the lifetime above 1,300 °C compared to conventionel 7YSZ .
