Final Report Abstract

The most important achievements obtained within this funding period are: The discovery of high energy cosmic neutrinos and the searches for their origin in particular the development of the blazar-to-neutrino scenario, including the primary cosmic ray component. - The first association of IceCube neutrinos to a gamma-ray emitting blazar and the astrophysical study related to the region around the alerting event. - The study of atmospheric neutrino oscillation with the IceCube/DeepCore detector including the investigation of the opportunity related to the measurement of the neutrino mass ordering. - The writing of a book related to Cosmic Rays and Particle Physic with T.K. Gaisser and R. Engel. - The foundation of the new chair for “Experimental Physics with Cosmic Particles” and its integration in the physics department of TUM as well as in the Munich area.
