Final Report Abstract
Like its counterparts in other organisms, Danio rerio LnpA obviously has essential functions in membrane dynamics and membrane traffic of the endoplasmic reticulum. Together with its conserved partner Atlastin, LnpA may influence the maintenance and/or stability of the endoplasmic reticulum membrane continuum and the trafficking of plasma membrane-bound receptors such as the Bmp receptor. Taken together, Lunapark is now considered to be another potential disease factor for Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia with an important function in endoplasmic reticulum membrane dynamics. The analysis of LnpA in zebrafish will contribute to the understanding of molecular biological and developmental mechanisms underlying this disease.
