Project Details
Syntheses of complex glycoligands and characterization of multivalent C-type lectinreceptor/carbohydrate-interactions (B08)
Subject Area
Biological and Biomimetic Chemistry
Term
from 2012 to 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 32049920
The project B8 focuses on the biophysical and biological characterization of multivalent carbohydrate-carbohydrate interactions. Relevant carbohydrates will be synthesized and functionalized on the surface of nanoparticles to increase binding avidity. Tumor-specific carbohydrate antigens will be synthesized and the carbohydrate interactions between GM3 and Gg3 as well as GB4 and GalGB4 will be evaluated for their suitability for tumor cell-specific imaging. Further carbohydrate structures such as the heteroxylans will be prepared by automated solid-phase synthesis and the impact of a multivalent carbohydrate presentation on the interaction will be investigated.
