The central goal of this project is to design and synthesize functional molecular building blocks, which allow for the formation of compositionally and structurally defined inorganic/organic interfaces and dynamic control over their opto-electronic properties. On the basis of knowledge gained during the second funding period, this project will continue to develop suitable photoswitchable molecules, undergoing large changes in their electronic structure, as well as explore new attachment chemistry for controlled functionalization of transition metal dichalcogenides.
