Project B6 explores resource efficiency potentials and innovative technical solutions in sustainable value creation networks. A specific focus is laid on the concept of Industrial Symbiosis (IS) which aims to organise industrial activity like an ecosystem where byproducts of one process are used as a resource input for another one. To support systematic planning of IS-networks, an Input-Output Matching Tool for industrial by-product streams is developed in the course of the project. It is based on conceptual data model, created through the analysis of various manufacturing processes. The technical implementation of an open access online database will allow involvement of IS-participants from different locations.
