Project Details
Control of magnetic nanostructures by spin currents and thermal gradients (C10)
Subject Area

In a magnetic material temperature gradients do not solely cause phononic thermal transport but also a magnonic contribution. These magnonic spin currents can lead to spin transfer torque effects without a charge current. By means of multi-scale computer simulations we want to explore innovative ways to control magnetic textures with magnonic spin currents on a nanometre scale. The investigated magnetic textures will include domain walls in ferromagnets as well as ferrimagnets and antiferromagnets and chiral spin structures as, e.g., spin spirals and skyrmions, with promising properties for future applications.
