Project Details
Manufacture and Properties of Protective Coating Systems on Single Crystal Superalloys (B06)
Subject Area
Coating and Surface Technology
Term
from 2012 to 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 190389738
The project investigates protective NiCoCrAlYs layers with Co-Base superalloys and the SEBM Ni-base materials. Protective ODS (oxide dispersion strengthened) coatings will receive special attention. In addition to vacuum plasma spraying (VPS) which was used in the first funding period, the new thermal spray process cold gas spraying (CGS) will be considered. This process allows depositing coatings with compressive residual stresses, which are expected to have a positive influence on fatigue life. The project will also contribute to research on rejuvenation of temperature exposed superalloys, using cold gas spraying to repair damaged Ni-base superalloys
