Microstructural creep model for superalloys under complex thermomechanical loads (C04)

Subject Area Mechanical Properties of Metallic Materials and their Microstructural Origins
Term from 2012 to 2019
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 190389738

Project C4 aims at clarifying various questions related to the physical metallurgy of superalloys. A 3D dislocation dynamics model will be used to find out whether recovery processes induced by dislocation climb control the deformation kinetics under creep conditions and which microstructural influences are to be expected. Furthermore, the role of slowly diffusing central d-shell elements on creep solid solution strengthening will be clarified. Microstructure and dislocation climb will be integrated into a continuum crystal-plasticity-creep-model, a non-local formulation of which will also be used to study and describe scale effects that occur during micro and nanoindentation
