Alarmins induce acute neutrophil mobilization (B08)

Tissue necrosis triggers the immediate discharge of neutrophils from the bone marrow, a response abrogated in mice lacking formyl peptide receptor 1 (FPR1). Here, we will conduct an unbiased search of additional alarmin-receptor pairs involved in acute neutrophil mobilization. Subsequently, we will study how alarmins generate neutrophil-mobilizing chemokines in the inflamed tissue and how these ligands manipulate the bone marrow environment to favour neutrophil discharge. Furthermore, we will generate a finger print of the surface of neutrophils released under acute stress. Finally, we will assess the importance of FPR1 in mouse models of necrosis-induced inflammation.
