The Virtual Library “ViFa Linguistik" has been created as an internet-based research gateway for General Linguistics and Comparative Language Studies. The target groups comprise scholars and students of general language studies/linguistics and individual language studies. The gateway is meant to offer orientation online as well as integrated access to conventional and digital information resources. To this end, by the brand name of "Linguistik – Portal für Sprachwissenschaft", a number of pre-existent services provided by project partners as well as modules created during the first phase of funding were made available online under a unified interface. This service is to be extended both qualitatively and quantitatively during the second phase of funding. The main objectives are: integration of additional catalogues and databases into the metasearch; extension of the integrated journal article database to Open Access journals; provision of the BLL linguistic thesaurus for (Linguistic) Linked Open Data, including linkage to a suitable linguistic ontology; constitution of an interface for mobile terminals; extension of the Open Access repository; development of online tutorials and dossiers about selected topics.
