This project will focus on a peptide hormone that is not only involved in the regulation of food intake (as a so called satiety hormone) but also plays a role in the stress axis. Recent studies showed that this hormone, nesfatin-1, has an anxiogenic effect in animals and also shows an association with anxiety in humans. The studies proposed here will further investigate the topic of the role of nesfatin-1, predominantly the acute regulation, in the mediation of anxiety in animals and humans.
