Effective field theory for threshold phenomena (A03)
Subject Area
Nuclear and Elementary Particle Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Relativity, Fields
Term
from 2012 to 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 196253076
A plethora of exotics X, Y, Z and heavy pentaquark states have been (and keep being) observed at collider experiments at CERN, B and tau-charm factories, and will be searched for at the upcoming PANDA experiment at FAIR. The aim of this project is to develop a QCD derived Nonrelativistic Effective Field Theory (NREFT) description of the region at and above the strong heavy quarkonium decay thresholds where the XYZ states have been observed and where many new degrees of freedom (glue, heavy-light mesons, light quarks) become dynamical, differently from the case of standard quarkonium below threshold.
