HaNOA is a highly interdisciplinary project examines selected harbours and landing places of the period c. 800 to 1300 in Iceland, Greenland, Shetland, the Faroe Islands and western Norway with different methods of maritime archaeology, archaeology, history, Nordic philology, geology, geomorphology, and climatology. The development of new methods to identify harbours and landing places in the research area is at the centre of the project, and to understand their functions as sites as well as parts of a supra-regional network. During phase two all data collected during phase one shall be analysed. Main objective is to produce a final monograph in which all results from the investigations are put in context.
