Inverse interaction problems between acoustic, electromagnetic and elastic waves occur in many applications in natural sciences and engineering. This project is devoted to the investigation of inverse fluid-solid interaction problems of detecting the position, shape and internal physical properties of an unknown elastic body immersed in a compressible inviscid fluid. One objective is to obtain new uniqueness results in recovering the inhomogeneous density inside the elastic body from acoustic far-field data. The second goal is to develop efficient and stable numerical algorithms for identifying the location and shape of the underlying obstacle. In the latter task, we are interested in factorization methods with near-field data and in reconstruction methods using multi-frequency far-field patterns associated with incident plane waves with a single direction. Inverse interaction problems between electromagnetic and elastic waves will also be studied.
