Final Report Abstract

The calibration methodology proposed is based on the generation of a reference torque value by measuring the angular acceleration applied to a rotating inertial body attached. There is the controlled speed step profile which will generate the acceleration impulse ramps. The different combinations of acceleration and mass moment of inertia (MMI) values generate a range of reference torque curves. The use of current research results in dynamic force measurement and weighing especially the experimental and numerical analysis of dynamic properties of components could lead to deeper understanding and enhanced uncertainty analysis. The detailed uncertainty analysis of components and complete system requires combined static and dynamic models of the complex system of the whole torque primary standard unit and also need to incorporate unwanted disturbing influences like temperature and humidity. Our joint project aimed to primary dynamic torque standards in the range of 50 to 100 Nm with frequencies up to 50 Hz that are traceable to static fundamental torque standards and to build one demonstrator set-up at Brasilian side and one demonstrator at German side. Besides the metrological importance this field has a great impact on many industrial applications like automotive, green energy and machine construction. The aim of the German side proposal was to support the set-up of the new primary dynamic torque standard demonstrator by research on combined static and dynamic models of the complex system that are currently not available but necessary the construction, understanding and improvement of the set-up. Furthermore a pneumatic test stand was build and first experimental results are availiable.
