Nachwuchsakademie "OFFSPRing”

Subject Area Reproductive Medicine, Urology
Term from 2012 to 2016
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 223668268

In recent years, research groups in reproductive science have formed local and nationwide networks that are supported through several DFG network grants. Many young scientists are attracted to enter these programs as they will be trained to perform cutting edge research in reproductive science. Several group leaders of the above mentioned research groups have now decided to apply for a “Nachwuchsakademie OFFSPRing” to offer young researchers a long term perspective in reproductive science and to generate an academic identity. For the OFFSPRing up to 12 participants will be competitively selected based on their scientific standing and the quality of their research proposals. Selected candidates will then participate in two consecutive meetings in the frame of the OFFSPRing programme for the continuation of their grant application preparation. The goal of the first meeting, in which the applicants together with leading scientists in the respective fields of research will act as mentors, is to set the basis for the compilation of a competitive DFG (pilot) project application. The second meeting aims at the critical evaluation of the results from the research projects and the assessment of a follow-up DFG application. During the programme, participants will have reached the maturity level for a successful first DFG grant application, which is the foundation for a lasting career in reproductive science. OFFSPRing will guide, teach and support promising candidates from all fields of reproductive research in a unique way to significantly enhance their chances for a successful scientific career in this fascinating area of research.
