Project Details
Interplay of Hsp70/J-domain proteins and sequestrases in organization of protein quality control and stress response in yeast (08)
Subject Area
Biochemistry
Term
from 2012 to 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 201348542
TP08 investigates at the molecular level how cells react to protein damaging stress conditions. The analysis of cellular sequestrases that sequester misfolded proteins into large inclusions is in the research focus. The project will dissect the mechanism underlying sequestrase activity, how this activity is controlled by environmental cues and how trapped substrates are transferred to disaggregases for solubilisation during recovery periods. Furthermore, TP08 will dissect the function of a nuclear chaperone in the disassembly of heat shock gene loci that are linked to stress response activation and its crosstalk to nuclear protein quality control.
