Project Details
Investigation and technical utilisation of spatio-temporal patterns during the electrochemical preferential oxidation of CO from H2/CO-mixtures
Subject Area
Chemical and Thermal Process Engineering
Term
from 2012 to 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 224744407
Subject of the present project is the investigation and technical utilisation of complex spatio-temporal patterns during the electrochemical preferential oxidation of CO from H2/CO-mixtures in polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells. Such a system can be used for deep CO removal from hydrogen-rich gas mixtures for a subsequent conversion in low-temperature fuel cells. However, a meaningful technical utilisation requires a thorough understanding of the complex dynamics of the system. Therefore, this project aims at a systematic experimental characterisation and analysis of the system. Subsequently, suggestions for a suitable design and operation of a corresponding apparatus should be made.
