Stress-induced regulation of N-terminal acetylation controls proteostasis in plants (13)

N-terminal acetylation (NTA) of proteins is the most common co-translational protein modification in eukaryotes. In this project we will address the tuning of the subunit composition of the major N-acetyltransferase complex (NatA) by the drought stress-induced hormone ABA and its consequences for coordination of translation and proteostasis in the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana. Furthermore, we will dissect the impact of autophagy and the ubiquitin-proteasome system on NTA-dependent protein destruction by selective inhibition of core components for both systems in NatA depleted plants.
